Encouraging and Recognizing Business Excellence
The Boulder County Business Hall of Fame is a private, nonprofit 501C3 dedicated to the encouragement of business excellence in Boulder County by recognizing and inducting Boulder County business leaders into the prestigious Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame operates under the administration of a volunteer board of directors comprised of Boulder County business leaders. The board provides operational and fiduciary oversight as well as serving as the selection panel for the Hall of Fame honorees. Each year since its founding by the Millennium Harvest House in 1992, the Hall of Fame board of directors has chosen and installed a select number of business leaders from a diverse field of candidates nominated by their peers, family members and associates. Candidates are evaluated against a set of criteria set forth in the Hall of Fame bylaws. nominations are accepted from May through January online or in written format with inductee selections being made in February.
Annual Induction Lunch and Scholarship Presentations
The Best Western Plus Plaza Hotel, the Plaza Convention Center, and the Susan M. Pratt Charitable Foundation generously support the Hall of Fame as the Presenting Sponsors for the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame induction lunch and private honoree reception. Inductees are honored and installed into the Hall of Fame at the annual April induction lunch. Corporate sponsorships and individual ticket purchases support the expenses associated with the lunch as well as helping to provide funds for the scholarships presented at the induction lunch. In 2006, the Hall of Fame expanded its focus on the encouragement of business excellence by establishing a scholarship fund. Future business leaders, who are graduates of Boulder County high schools now attending the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder, are eligible to apply for a Hall of Fame scholarship.
Hall of Fame Gallery
A permanent installation honoring alumni inductees is located at the Plaza Convention Center, 1850 Industrial Circle, Longmont, Colorado. The gallery includes photographs and biographies of each honoree. In addition to being permanently recognized as inductees in the Hall of Fame gallery, honorees are also eligible to become members of the organization’s elite alumni association. Membership contributions support the scholarship fund.
The Mission of the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame is to research, document and recommend for induction into the Hall of Fame, those individuals who have been instrumental, through business-related efforts, in providing direction, energy and support to the shaping of Boulder County since its inception.
