Gerry and Janet Morrell, high school sweethearts who later married, opened Morrell Graphics Communications in Lafayette in 1975. Twenty years later, the company was named Business of the Year by the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

When not providing printing, shipping and office services to Boulder County, the couple has been very active in the community. Gerry and Janet are members of the Lafayette Historical Society and Chamber of Commerce and have served as leaders of the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Explorers. They also have been active in the Boulder County Retired Seniors Program, and their Lafayette residence was featured in the group’s tour of homes in 1989.

Gerry served as Lafayette Mayor Pro-Tem from 1989 to 1990 and as a city council member from 1987 to 1995. He was named Lafayette Citizen of the Year in 1984 by the Lafayette news and in 1995 by V.F.W. Post 1771. A member of the Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department since 1976, he was named Fire Fighter of the Year in 1987.

Janet currently works as business manager and typesetter for Morrell Graphic Communications with their four children: Jim, who runs the office supply and quick copy department with his wife, Jackie; Jeff, who works as a pressman; and Kristel and Matthew who help out when needed.
