In 1974, Karen Mulholland opened Karen’s Country Kitchen, Inc., a successful gift shop and restaurant and a Louisville tradition. Seventeen years later, she added Karen’s in the Country, a large Victorian house that is the site for weddings and parties. Karen has long donated her food and services to Boulder County events such as the Porter Care Avista Golf Classic and the “Apple Dazzle” for the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools and organizations such as the Louisville Historical Museum, the Louisville and Lafayette Chambers of Commerce and the Boulder County Safe House.

Karen received the “Louisville Chamber Business of the Year Award” in 1989 and was awarded “outstanding” recognition at the Esprit Entrepreneur banquet in 1990. Karen is active with the Taste of Colorado, and her homemade items are in demand across the United States and abroad.
