In 1959, William G. “Bill” and Lila Stewart purchased KLMO, a failing 250-watt Longmont radio station and transformed it into a 10,000-watt powerhouse for promoting the community.
Mrs. Stewart’s “Happy Talk” show attracted listeners from four states to Longmont events and businesses. In 1969, the Stewarts added KLMO-FM.
Bill Stewart passed away in 2012. The Stewart family, which previously included their late daughter Linda, continues to be led by Lila in supporting the Longmont Museum Expansion Project, the Tiny Tim Learning Center, and the University of Colorado.
