Mary E. (Foote) Miller was born Aug. 3, 1842 in Geneseo, N.Y. She married Lafayette Miller in 1862 and came to the Colorado Territory the following year. Mary Miller founded the town of Lafayette in east Boulder County in 1888. Mary Miller financed the first school, the first church and the first bank in Lafayette.
