Richard Polk, president of Boulder’s Pedestrian Shops, has been a fixture in downtown Boulder since the early 1970s, selling Earth Shoes out of his truck and then from a storefront on Pearl Street. He operates his company, a nationally known retailer of comfortable footwear, with his daughters, Lauren Polk Brown and Zoe Polk, and is noted for social programs and green business practices, including collecting 35,000 pairs of reusable footwear for people in need. He served on Boulder’s City Council, and chaired the board of The Dairy Center for the Arts for a decade.
