Wayne Jurgens was a partner for nearly 50 years (1947-1996) in the business his grandfather founded, now known as Longmont Insurance Professionals.

Jurgens used his experience and knowledge to author the first-ever insurance specifications for the State of Colorado and the first-ever specifications for minimum insurance requirements for county governments in the state, as well as teach for The University of Colorado, Central Business College in Denver and other educational institutions.

He has been involved in numerous industry organizations, including National Association of Realtors and Professional Insurance Agents of America.

Jurgens has been a member of the Longmont Chamber of Commerce for 50 years, holding the office of president in 1952. In 1997, he chaired the planning committee for Longmont’s 125th birthday celebration, a project for which the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce presented him with the “Momentum” award. He has served as director and president for the Longmont United Hospital, the Family Extension Board and the Longmont Symphony Orchestra Board.

Other civic contributions include: membership on the Boulder Community Crime Stoppers Board, the Friends of Longmont Museum Board and the National Ski Patrol System, as well as significant involvement with the Boy Scouts of America and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
